Strongly condemning attempts to sabotage peaceful assemblies, Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement issues a firm statement of position.
(Kuala Lumpur, 25th) The Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement (TBH-ADA) today issued a formal statement regarding the act of setting off large fireworks that endangered participants during the #ArrestAzamBaki peaceful assembly held outside the SOGO shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur.
The Association strongly condemns such acts of malicious sabotage intended to damage the reputation of the assembly and unjustly implicate the organizers. As members of the secretariat of the #ArrestAzamBaki initiative, we established clear guidelines during the preparation stage and widely publicized essential items for peaceful assemblies such as drinking water and raincoats. Any actions that violate the principle of peace are attempts to undermine civic organizations that are using legitimate and reasonable means to condemn corruption and abuse of power within the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and to call for its reform.
Past experience shows that individuals with ulterior motives (provocateurs) may infiltrate peaceful assemblies to create chaos and stigmatize social movements. Such individuals deliberately create disorder during gatherings in order to shift public attention and to induce law enforcement authorities to take action against the organizers. We will never allow such despicable sabotage to succeed.
Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement will continue to defend the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and calls on the public to remain calm and avoid falling into the narrative traps set by saboteurs.

严厉谴责恶意破坏和平集会图谋，赵明福民主促进会严正声明立场
（吉隆坡25日讯）赵明福民主促进会（TBH-ADA）今日针对在吉隆坡SOGO商场外#逮捕阿占巴基和平集会中出现的燃放大型烟花危害集会者的行为发表严正声明。
本会强烈谴责这种旨在破坏集会名誉、陷主办单位于不义的恶意破坏（Sabotage）行为。作为#逮捕阿占巴基秘书处成员，我们在筹备阶段已设立明确准则，也广泛宣传和平集会所需携带的饮水和雨衣等必备物，任何违背和平原则都是旨在破坏公民组织以正当合理手段谴责反贪会贪污滥权和呼吁改革反贪会的行动。
过去的经验显示，别有意图的挑衅者（provocateur)会混入和平集会制造混乱以污名化社会运动。相关人士刻意在集会中制造混乱，目的是转移舆论焦点，并诱使执法当局对主办方采取行动。我们绝不容许这种卑劣的破坏手段得逞。
赵明福民主促进会将继续捍卫宪法赋予的集会权利，并呼吁社会大众保持冷静，勿落入破坏者所设下的舆论陷阱。
