[13 Dec 2023] Today, Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement and Teoh family representative Lee Lan submitted a protest letter to the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya, expressing their disappointment that the Prime Minister refused to meet the Teoh family.
The association chairperson Ng Yap Hwa said Anwar’s black eye incident shocked the nation 25 years ago, the then Inspector-General of Police Rahim Noor paid a price for his assault against Anwar. He was brought to the justice and jailed for 2 months.
Similarly, Beng Hock was tortured (pre-fall injury on his neck) under the detention of the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). He died under the custody of MACC, yet no one single person was punished by the law. Is the rule of law respected in this country?
“This is clearly a double standard. Does it mean the government is only willing to deal with cases involved top politicians? Ordinary citizens such as Beng Hock are excluded from the application of rule of law? Anwar, who ignited the Reformasi movement and struggle for the principle of justice, should make sure justice prevails in the tragic case of Beng Hock if he upholds the rule of law.”
Lee Lan reminded Anwar that he attended the rally calling for justice for Beng Hock at Plaza Masalam, and Beng Hock’s funeral ceremony 14 years ago. The Teoh family has exhausted all internal channels, tried to contact the government officials to talk about the case, but all to no avail.
She hoped that the Prime Minister Office’s Encik Ariff, who received the protest letter on behalf of the political secretary, could convey the message to the Prime Minister, arranging a meeting with Teoh family, not forgetting his original purpose 25 years ago.
Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement and the Teoh family will not give up the fight for truth and justice. Towards the 15th anniversary of the death of Teoh Beng Hock, we will continue and escalate our actions, until justice prevails.
【2023年12月13日】今天，赵明福民主促进会与赵家代表丽兰到布特拉再也首相署提呈抗议信，对首相安华上台一年来对赵明福命案不闻不问感到极度遗憾。
赵明福民主促进会主席黄业华提醒安华，当年他在被拘留期间被前总警长Rahim Noor殴打，“黑眼圈”一事震惊全国。Rahim Noor因此被追究责任，受法律制裁，被判入狱二个月。
同样的，赵明福在拘留期间被施予酷刑（坠楼前颈上伤口），且死于雪州反贪会拘留所，14年来却没有任何一个人受到法律制裁，公道何在？
他说，这种双重标准的待遇，是否说明政府只愿意处理高官面对的酷刑，而对平民如赵明福的遭遇毫不在乎？以烈火莫熄和公正理念起家的安华，如果还维护法治社会的原则，应该确保执政期间还明福和赵家一个公道。
赵丽兰提醒安华，14年前他曾经出席过案发现场的声援活动，也曾出席明福的出殡仪式。她说赵家已经通过内部管道，尝试通过政府领袖解决明福案件，却全部如石沉大海。
她希望接收抗议信的首相署职员Ariff能够把消息传达给首相，并安排接见赵家一面，莫忘当年参与抗争的初心。
